Welcome to The Grimsby Gentlemen Rugby Football Club website. We are a small but mighty rugby club with one team in the Niagara A league with a flag rugby division. We are always looking for players with experience or not and who also have delusions of greatness. Practices are on Tuesday and Thursday nights at our clubhouse and rugby dedicated field at
Alway Hall at 494 Ridge Road West. Practices start at 6:30.

Our Flag program is for kids under 15 and is associated with Niagara Flag Rugby and is in its second year. Practices will begin on Monday nights at 6:30 at Alway Hall and games are tournament style on six Saturday mornings around the Niagara Region. The cost for a shirt, coaching, and insurance is a reasonable $60. Call Martin Van Den Hurk 905-945-9568.

Practices will continue on June 7, 14, 21 and 28, July 5, 12, 19, 26 and August 2, 9, 16.

On May 15th we played our exhibition  memorial game against St. Catharines in memory of Tony Brooker who was a coach of both Grimsby and St. Catharines and initiated rugby at several high schools in the Niagara Region.  It was a spirited game with an even more spirited picture taking afterward.  I will get the pictures on as soon as someone shows me how (check the blog).  Tony”s family was there and thanked everyone for raising money for diabetes research in Tony’s name.  The Gentlemen donated the keg to help the fund.

Congratulation to the Gentlemen who played in the come from behind (15 -3 at half),  nailbiting  22 – 20 win over Windsor at home on May 29.  We are in first place in May.

We lost our second game in Cambridge by a 66 to 10 score. We were competitive in the forwards but outpaced whenever they took it wide. We are not in first place any more

The June 12 game at home against Kent was a close 9 to 6 win with Dylan Kinch kicking all our points.

On June 19 the Gentlemen defeated the Tigers 11 to 5.  We made it interesting by giving them an intercept try late in the game.

On June 26, we lost to a good team from Bruce 34 to 5.

We lost a close one in Norfolk (7-0), but the flag tournament was very successful.

We lost in Windsor and halfway through the season we are now 3 wins and 4 losses.

Lost at home to Wilmot, but are looking forward to Norfolk Aug 7 at 3:00.  No game this weekend.
